GAYS IN AFRICA

Take Africa slow - AFRICA IS NOT READY FOR HOMOSEXUAL PUBLICITY

Homosexuality is not welcomed in Africa, it’s a taboo and that’s just how it is as of this, the 21st Century. We know you are among us; you are our brothers, our sisters, our uncles, aunties, our friends, colleagues, But it’s going to take a miracle for Africa to acknowledge gays. I really have no idea why people are fighting this whole thing. We are still trying to let go of some cultures and come to terms with the whole PDA (public display of affection) thing, Yes we are that behind; So bringing the whole issue of homosexuality on-board is going mind nibbling. It’s like feeding toothless baby cone.

What defines Africa is our morals, our cultures and the family unit to African is pretty clear, father mother and children (and probably a dog that sleeps out in the cold). We don’t have a lot of money so we are trying to hold on to the little bit of culture and morals still in us.

Forgive us for being behind time, for not being ready to embrace gays and lesbians but some of us need more time. No offence but I personally can’t imagine what it would feel like seeing a gay couple holding handing, flirting, the whole PDA on the street, changing saliva and all. How uncomfortable would that be! May be am just old fashioned like most eastern Africans or maybe I have read my bible well and know better.

I just really don’t get the whole gays and lesbian world. What goes in where, who's on top & who's bottom and who is what in the relationship it’s confusing world and am not sure some of us have the stomach for it live alone understand it . I think we need more information than ‘IT’S JUST HOW I AM’, so we can understand this whole gay world new to us. Because I still can’t grasp how I will want to kiss and sleep with ‘my same gender’ BFF.

The western world has embraced the homosexuals well. It’s actually fashionable to have a gay best friend, like the now famous quote, “everyone needs a gay best friend’. It’s fashionable to test the waters on all corners of the ocean. Shockingly there are those in America, Britain and other ‘developed’ countries who still haven’t embraced the idea. So don’t judge African countries like Uganda and Kenya. I know the new rule is extreme to say the list and am still confused and at one side am feeling sorry for them and the other side of me is just confused.

So bottom line, take us slow gay world, give us a minute to adjust, take everything in, probably read through the holy book again and maybe just maybe a century to come we might rub off to the idea of having a ‘gay best friend or even a gay neighbour.

I Don’t mean to judge but just saying what’s on most of our minds.

Just take Africa slow, coz we are not there yet!

LIFE INSURANCE

Is life insurance a necessity in this 21 century?

Life is full of uncertainty let’s face, we never know what tomorrow will grace us with.. That’s why this year 2014 I have been thinking a lot about life this New Year. Having grown an inch longer I am realizing how short, beautiful, drastically hurtful life is at times. If we are to go by the saying, live life to the fullest and enjoy every moment, then we most definitely need a life insurance. It is better to be safe than sorry, right?

Just like the advancements in technology and peoples lifestyles, life insurance has advanced and it is no longer a luxury but a necessity in the modern day. Life insurance is a necessity judging from the many illnesses that are arising in this 21century that are too expensive to cure or live with.

Life insurance has in the past been associated with the rich and the old people. May be because the rich can afford to pay the premiums and the not so young are prone to illnesses. The plan truth is everyone should have a life insurance cover. Buying insurance early on in life has its advantages because it is less expensive. The premiums in life insurance are calculated based on ones age and the older you are the more the premiums are. So, for whatever type of insurance you are looking for, it will cost you more if you are older. I hope this pushes young people to start investing in life insurance, including me.

There is a variety of life insurance policies to choose from, depending with your needs, preferences which includes;

Variable life insurance, Term insurance, Whole life insurance is a long term insurance policy that provides death benefits for a life term

The best part about life insurance is the saving factor and the fact that your dependant will not suffer in case of your accidental death or disability. We have seen families go down the drain financially when the bread winner dies or their source of income drains out. Well, there is a solution to that could life insurance.

So if you are looking for ways of investing your hard earned money, this is a great option.

And did you know you can get a loan using a life insurance cover, well now you do. Life insurance it is possible for one to take a loan against the insured sum. This is one of the best benefits of life insurance in an era where getting a bank loan sometimes proves difficult. Now there is a solution for that called life insurance’.
The government has also come in to support and encourage citizens to take up life insurance by giving tax benefits to the policy holders which is a big plus in an economy where every penny counts.
Before purchasing a cover always ensure that you read and understand all the terms and conditions stipulate in the policy document.
So, this year on top of my agenda is getting a life cover, then live life to the fullest.

sometimes we don't do it for ourselves, we do it for them!

A Healthy 2014

Personally my priority this year is good health and judging from what transpired from the holiday season, I need to get right to it. I must confess the holiday seasons bares its share of problems that I need to solve as soon as possible. For a start I have gained over 10pounds within one month! I just couldn’t resist the variety of delicious at arm’s length and basically tasted everything edible, (no judgment). I let go of the my healthy eating habit with the perfect excuse, Christmas only comes once an year and it’s a season to make merry, taste & toast.

The aftermath is visible for everyone to see and am not just talking about my weight but my skin doesn’t look or feel the same. I guess I substituted water with wine and vegetables with the not so healthy desserts.

Now am wishing I should have followed all the health and beauty tips I always follow, extrashade has such great & practical health, skin care and beauty tips to that always love turning inn to.

Enough mourning the perfect body and skin and feeling sorry , the holiday season is over and it’s time to get back to a healthy routine and get back in shape. Am sure am not the only one suffering from the aftermath of the holiday seasons and that just means we have a lot of work cut out for us this 2014 and a lesson learnt, we will be wiser when Easter and Christmas graces our hearts and stomachs.

For 2014 let’s kill all the bad eating habits, get a great skincare routine that works best for us, exercise and make sunscreen out best friend. We have had enough of people die from the deadly melanoma already and we need to kick it out & bury it so don’t forget sunscreen.

Mandela's heart of gold.

With all his ups and down, Mandela was and still is a hero!
Yes, I was angry. And I was a little afraid. After all I’ve not been free in so long. But, when I felt that anger well up inside of me, I realized that if I hated them after I got outside that gate, then they would still have me. I wanted to be free so I let it go.” ~Nelson Mandela upon leaving prison after 27 years of confinement
Now let’s take a moment and grasp this. This man had been imprisoned for 27 years for rightfully fighting for his country’s freedom. He was thrown in an isolated cell, detached him from all traces of humanity, where he actually suffered from life threatening illnesses. When He come back home after his release from prison 27 later, He’d missed out on seeing his children grow, as they were already adults, and worst of all his wife was already remarried. And the one statement he said was a forgiving and letting go speech!. THAT'S DEEP and ADMIRABLE.

It’s a few weeks after Mandela’s death and I am still thinking how incredibly strong that man was. Hand down He was a true leader, A father, A friend and not just an African but a legend the whole world loved. This is not because he was the first black president of South Africa and a hero but He had a heart of gold. A forgiving heart. I can't help but wonder how he did it, forgive them and let it all go and not just in words or writing but in actions.

I am thinking of a scenario where that happens to someone like me. I’d have had enough time in prison to plan the revenge of the century. Am thinking guns, bombs, the whole World War 2 scenario and top on of the list would be sending the whites back home actually, throwing them back home. Apologies for my revengeful mind!

But not Mandela. He chose peace, kindness. He chose to let go and be free.

He’s has inspired me to think positively. He has taught me that forgiveness is the key to being free. He has taught me to be kind NOT just to those who are good and kind to me BUT MORE SO to those I don’t feel like they deserve my kindness. He has taught me the true meaning of humility, patience, gentleness and self-control.

I am a working progress but the father of African has given me more than money could buy.

Mandela might be died but he lives deep within us. In all that he did for us and touched our souls to never be the same again. He will be celebrated and missed for ever.

NOW this is the song my heart sings, that will help me get through any difficult situation. Hope you learn something from him and make make forgiveness and love the ruler of your heart.
